WETSTYLE, a Montreal-based designer, manufacturer and marketer of premium-quality bath furnishings, announced today that WETMAR BiO™ , the proprietary material from which its soaking bathtubs, wash basins and shower pans are made, has been awarded the prestigious Green GOOD DESIGN Award.
WETSTYLE has won the GOOD DESIGN Award in the past. This is the first time the company is being presented with the Green GOOD DESIGN Award.
Green GOOD DESIGN identifies the world’s most impressive examples of sustainable design. The 2015 Green GOOD DESIGN received hundreds of submissions from around the world. Members of The European Center’s International Advisory Committee—worldwide leaders in the design industry—served as the jury and selected over 100 products programs, people, environmental planning, and architecture as outstanding examples of Green Design from twenty-two nations.
WETMAR BiO™ is an eco-friendly material made primarily from a mix of natural ingredients – soy and mineral stone. WETSTYLE’s proprietary code-compliant recipe includes soy and vegetable extracts instead of the petrochemical-based resins frequently used by the industry. WETMAR BiO™ is slip resistant, non-porous and more durable than acrylic. It is available in a True High Gloss™ or Matte White finish.
“It is an honor to be recognized for offering the industry’s purest and most environmentally friendly material, which is consistent with our goal to produce products of the highest quality,” said Mark Wolinsky, president, WETSTYLE. “As a company focused on sustainability, we have integrated WETMAR BiO™ into all WETSTYLE bathtubs, lavatories an shower receptors since its introduction in 2013.”
Beyond being eco-friendly, WETMAR BiO™ also is exceptionally strong. Its performance in high-traffic locations makes it ideal for both home and hotel environments. WETSTYLE products with WETMAR BiO™ can be found in some of the world’s premier hotels including the Ritz-Carlton in Montréal, Québec, Canada and Fogo Island Inn in Fogo Island,
GOOD DESIGN, one of the world’s most recognized and oldest design awards programs, is organized annually by The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design in cooperation with the European Centre for Architecture, Art Design and Urban Studies.
